IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

2021 National AA Convention Cancelled due to COVID

To our dear friends in fellowships AA, Al-Anon and Alateen.

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the cancellation of the 2021 Australian National Convention of Alcoholics Anonymous.

This is not a decision we have made lightly. However, at our Host Planning Committee meeting tonight, we were presented with the news from Hilton Hotel Adelaide that we are only able to have a maximum of 200 people at our event. This is a ruling by the South Australian Government and makes our event non-viable. Whilst these restrictions will be reviewed again in March, we cannot leave this decision to such a late time frame for people booking flights, accommodation and other travel arrangements.

Our team will be reaching out to all areas, districts and groups that have kindly contributed to the convention, with information on providing refunds. As promised, we will also be providing full refunds to all registrants. If you paid by card via our website, your refund will go back to the card used. If you paid by direct debit straight into our account, please reach out so we can organise the transfer back to you.

Profit made from these National Conventions are passed to the General Service Board of Australia and whilst our HPC strongly encourages this support and the GSB welcome it, we ask that if you would like to pass on your registration fee to the GSB, would you be kind enough to make the arrangements directly. There are a few initiatives the GSB have in place for members to contribute and we highly recommend checking out the options here https://literature.aa.org.au/pages/donation or you can make a donation directly into their bank account at:

Account Name: General Service Board of Alcoholics Anonymous Australia

BSB: 012 006

ACC: 0097 50529

We also encourage the much needed financial support of many of our CSO’s around the country to ensure our fellowship is still able to fulfil our primary purpose.

We truly are sorry for inconveniences this will cause and disappointment for many of you as we bring you this unfortunate news.

Our hard working committee has been super committed and we haven’t missed a beat over the last two years. Whilst we didn’t quite make it to the finish line, we have forged strong bonds and made lifelong friendships, not to mention taken away some very special experiences and new learnings, all in the name of service.

It’s been a privilege and an honour and we leave you with much love and gratitude in our hearts.

Yours in service
